Mobil 1 fully syn in a 250ex ?

A good read about oil, and why you don't want to run car oil...even in your car: http://www.thumperfaq.com/oil.htm
You should run a motorcycle oil that is API SG/JASO MA. If you want to run Mobil 1, get the motorcycle specific one. It use to be called MX4T, but now is called "Racing" or something like that. It is usually quite expensive!
If you are talking Mobil 1 "car" oil, you do not want to run that. Even if it isn't "energy conserving", it will still have friction modifiers that aren't going to do your clutch any good at all. Plus, car oils can't have as robust an additive package as a motorcycle oil (it would poison the catalytic converter), so you are way ahead there getting a motorcycle specific oil.
My personal choice is Maxima Extra, ester synthetic. I have run it in all my quads/dirt bikes for years, including my 250's. It's expensive, but costs less than Mobil 1.

Just for the record, someone in one of the dirt bike forums asked this very same question (Mobil 1 car oil vs Mobil 1 motorcycle oil).
They finally called Mobil tech service, and guess what they said....."car oils are for cars, and motorcycle oils are for motorcycles". They specifically mentioned the muc more robust additive package in the motorcycle specific oil.

I have a buddy that put car oil in his Rubicon and now the trans. makes a really bad noise and slips.
I have read where many have stated that if you are not going to run motocyle oil then run oil designed for diesels like Shell Rotella 5w-40 syn. Just do not run oil designed for gas engines (passenger vehicles) or you are asking for certain clutch problems.

Recently I contacted Mobil 1 about using Mobil 1 in my TRX 680FA. Here's their reply.
You do not want to utilize Mobil1 automotive motor oils in your
> application, the appropriate product is Mobil1 Racing 4T 10W40 motorcycle
> motor oil.

I've used the Mobile 1 racing 4t oil which used to be called MX4T in my 250ex and it loved it. In fact I've ran it in most of my quads and it's a great oil.No matter what oil you use Run Syntheic oil. Just dont run syn. made for cars with friction modifiers or MOLEY.
The reasons to run syntheic are to numerous to mention. Regular oil just dosent compare.

Keep in mind that Rotella has gotten reformulated, and there has been a downgrade in the additive package because of the cat converters now showing up on diesels.
Rotella is Group III, Mobil 1 and Amsoil are Group IV, and the Esters are Group V. There are lots of Rotella fans out there for sure, but its only real advantage of Group III is price! It is at the very bottom of the heap when you are comparing synthetic oil chemistries......
