Default 95 Trailboss300 needs more ummphh

Hi,
I have a 95 TB300 2 stroke that is in need of more power. The bike runs good, but just doesnt have enough guts. What are my options for more power? I'm not talking like "Air filter", pipe, etc. I'm talking like Rotax swap or big bore and some compression. I need at least another 20hp, would like to have around 50 total hp. I have some steep hills to climb, this bike will do it, just slowly.

Also, what can be done about the hard starting when hot problem. If you take a 10 minute break or so, this bike is a mother to get started again. Almost seems like heat soak in the carb. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Mike

Hard starting most likely means you need a fresh top end.For better seat of the pants feel put in a Polaris white primary spring. For what you are wanting get you a 400 Scrambler .

Thanks for the info. I called a local Polaris shop today, they said all they had was a clutch kit for roughly $325. Couldn't even get a piston or set of rings for it. He talked like the bike is an old hunk of junk, not worth trying to get more power out of.

So, I know alot of people are not into motor swaps and things, but I like to do that kind of stuff. Instead of dumping a few hundred into a non-performance engine, there has got to be something that is swappable. With the separate gearbox, i am thinking that if I can get the doner to fit, and the output shaft is the same, I should be in business. I have done engine swaps on quads before, but never a polaris, and never a 2 stroke.

Or should I sell it and get something else? The guy also talked like these are worth about $1200 tops.

I am not looking for a all out drag machine. I just want a SPORTY quad with lots of torque. Steep hills, wheelies, etc.
Top speed could be 50 for all I care.
Thanks,
Mike
