Default pipes glowing red

I have 2004 700 Sportsman. After riding a short while the exaust pipe is glowing red.I know if a car does this I would look at stopped up converter or lean mixture on fuel. Would the same apply to atv?

yes it would apply the same. there was a post about this a short time ago and a few guys said that theres does it and have since new because of thin pipes but myself i think its running too lean. also make sure the radaitor isnt partly plugged and causing it to run hoter then its suppose too. just an idear.

if it is only a short distance, up to 4", you have nothing to worry about. if you ride them at 4000-5500 rpm the engine makes heat and it has to go somwhere. i would be more concerned if the header didn't glo a little. jmo.......stroker
