Ok, so that would explain why the top of the filter was damp.... whew... can anyone tell me at what point the valves might need adjusting, if they do? What I mean is, what let's one know when it is time for this to happen.

if it's brand new.. i'd have them adjusted at the first service if they don't do it... then maybe check them every 50 hours-100 depending how often you ride.. if they do need adjusted.. get quotes.. and take the plastic off so it costs u less to have it serviced, they wanted $120 to adjust my valves on my warrior.. took the plastic off and it was $50

I am a cop, not stolen, already checked. It was a trade in at a car lot. I already contacted the previous owner and they have the service history.
Now, about this airbox. I think I am going to "fashion" a home spun setup. K&N cone, chrome pipe, and a piece of raditor hose for the connection. I think it has room to run it straight to where the present airbox is. If not, I will cut some plastic. This way, the only real expense I should see is the rejetting... I almost forgot how much fun it is to mod and rod these things.
