Re-build of my 06 wolverine 450
#1
Here is just a little write-up I did of the re-build on my 2006 wolverine 450.
I had a wreck on it at the Silver Lake Sand Dunes a over the summer, and I busted the fenders up a little and broke a few other pieces....including my hand in two places, and got knocked unconscious.
I hit a rut on the downside of a dune and it launched the back end of the machine up (I was doing about 50mph). It bucked me up, and when I came down, all my weight went on the right side floorboard, just in front of the foot peg. My foot went right through the plastic causing the quad to flip to the right and start cart wheeling. I came down on my hand first, then the machine flipped and landed on my head (thank god for a good helmet). My leg was still stuck through the floorboard, and it was sitting upside down on my head...so I was pinned there until a friend got my leg out and rolled it off me.
Anyway, I didn't touch the wolverine for a while after that. With my hand in a cast for 3 months, I wasn't up to working on it. So I started ordering some new parts to fix the damage, and make it a little quicker.
When It was all said and done, this is what I had coming:
2007 wolverine 450 gray fenders (front fender, front grill, mid tank cover, and rear fender)
07 wolverine graphics for the gray plastics
new right side floorboard
Choke lever (my helmet busted that off when it rolled)
HMF slip on pipe
K& N filter
Dynojet jet kit
Black ITP SS108 wheels (12")
I also painted the front and rear bumpers black,
And had the clutch machined by Hawk racing (10+mph top end)
I will stop blabbering now...here are the pics.
Before the wreck; stock and boring:

I guess I was lazy, or just forgot...but I didnt get any pictures of the quad after the wreck. But here are the old fenders just to show the damage. You can see the discoloration in the plastic from it being rolled, and some of the broken parts.

Here it is all stripped down getting ready to be powerwashed:

This is in the garage after the powerwashing, getting ready for an oil change and some new parts.

New fenders arrive:

Rear fenders on, along with the new wheels....getting ready to head to the shop for the jetting and the clutch work

Back from the shop, all finished up. Sorry, its a little dirty because I had to race my buddy with his stock wolverine 450 to see how much quicker it was and it was a little wet outside.

Once again, here it is stock:

and here it is now, well worth the time and money in my opinion.

Now I just have to install my GYTR skid plates and A-arm covers, and I will be done for at least a little while.
Just thought I would share,
Kyle

These are supposed to be stronger than the factory ones, plus there is a lifetime warranty.
lol, yeah....I'm just going to know the terrain a little better before I go blasting down it at 50+mph.
