06' Wolverine running rich...
#1
WTF? Saturday I was kinda just putting around, and started smelling gas. No power loss, but I was getting this gray smoke, and it did not want to idle good. It sounded like it had a full race cam in it... anyway, I pulled the plug, nice and black, cleaned some carbon off it and checked the gap. I pulled the filter, cleaned it well and reinstalled it yesterday. Still idling a little rough. Does this carb have any adjustment screws that I am missing? I know there is one on the side that can be adjusted by hand, but that just seems to make it idle at higher or lower rpms. Carb is a Mikuni. I hope that to adjust air fuel mixtures, you do not have to start rejetting and what not... thanks.

The one that is inside the hose will adjust the idle to proper setting, but I dont think there is an air/fuel mixture screw. There might be a air screw though. After that it is rejetting, but I dont see why all of a sudden it would start running rich if it was the jetting, I did have my idle screw change settings on mine by itself though.

Well, I rode it this morning pretty hard. It was 45* outside here. No problems. Ran strong as ever, even got the front end up in the air ( after resetting the amount of play on the throttle, and alot of practice with my weight shift ) about three feet. One of those things... I am trying to sell off some stuff so that I can mod it up. ( Wife is a Banker, so she sees where EVERY dime goes lol ). Thought about selling it though and getting something bigger. But, I doubt I will find another one this nice...

well at least she keeps track .
Yep thats all it takes to get the front end up is practice so you know what to do and when to do it.
I dont really want to sell mine for something bigger because then you add a lot of weight to it and it is harder to ride in my opinion. I just want more power, man.

you remove the carberator and drill out the plug on the side closest to the head. Then you reinstall the carb and adjust away. btw good luck there is not much room to get any sort of screw driver on the adjuster. While you have the carb off the bike you may want to open it up and check to see if maybe the slide is sticking causing it to run rich. If you do not feel comfortable doing it you need to take it back to a yamaha dealer.
