Baja 90cc Combo CDI unit
#1
Hi, new to the sport of ATV's - just wondering if you could tell me how to disconnect or bypass the CDI unit or at least the rev limiter on it. Seems from the manual it said it had a speed limiter on it but its not where the picture indicates. so I assume they have changed it to the combo unit.
Just got it and look for more top end speed...other then that its a fun little starter!

The unit does have a solid green wire as one of the four wires coming out of it - also a green-white. In total there are two separate male plugs going into the CDI - each time I pull one or both of the the engine dies. there is nothing on the botttom but there is two screws on the top of the unit itself they must adjust something.
Here is a picture of the CDI unit on my quad.(scroll to near the bottom of this web page). Its similar but with out the screws

Called: CDI unit 150-101

Hi
My quad is new and does not have the box under the fender...i look all over and can not find it...did some research I think the BAJA is now using a combination CDI unit that controls the rev limiter and engine timeing sequence.
As I mentioned the minute I disconnect any of the two plugs it kills the engine. The wiring diagram does not inclued the Rev Limiter but does state a Combination CDI unit.
Any thoughts on which wire to cut.....

I believe this cdi might work for you. I have bought from them in the past and they worked out to be a good seller and i got stuff from them in as quick as a week or 10 days. It's listed in british pounds but paypal will convert to US dollars when you pay. Definately let us all know if it works out for your mini if you try it. http://www.scooter-assassins.com/KymcoFilly50Page.html

the cdi on that machine has a small green receptacle on it.you will need to remove the very small strip of metal under the two screws inside the green fitting.this removes the speed limiter in the engine... it will go about 28 mph when you do this

I believe the box is located just behind the rear of the fuel tank. Take off the seat and you can see it. Slide it out from the rubber retaining strap and there are rubber plugs on the underside. the new models have a jumper between two screws off to the side remove that and adjust the small screw under the rubber plug, this will allow for a higher top end.
(I just did this to one at a pep boys store).

Is this what you did to a 90cc Baja in addition to the CDI modification?
on my CDI box there is a green housed dual screw connector. In other words it has a chromed piece of conducting metal which makes the circuit between the two screws. When the connecter was removed it allowed the quad to be unlimited or at least governed less. DONT CUT ANY WIRES~

there are two rubber plugs on the unit, they are glued on so they take a little coaxing to get them off. The one on the same side of the two screws is the high speed adjuster, with the jumper off and this adjusted the atv will reach its max potential.
