All ATVs are like that. The cc numbers are rounded off. For instance, a Warrior is 348cc, but it lists as a 350. The 1st YFZ450s were I think 421cc or something crazy like that. I'm surprised they called the 660 a 660 and not a 650 just to sound good.

Like Raptor450 mentioned, all manufacturers round up....look at the new artic cat 1000, thats only a 950. The YFZ is actually a 449cc, the wolverine 450 and kodiak 450 are both 421 cc motors.

yep really how good would a wolverine 421 sound or a yfz 449, or a raptor 686.
It is the classic manufacturer ploy, make it a catchy name and people will buy it.

Shocking discovery, and it only took you two years to figure it out!
MIwolvy touched on a good point, in the utility world the disparity b/w advertised displacement and actual is more pronounced. The first BIG offender in recent history was the Polaris Sportsman 800, coming in at 760cc. I remember giving them a lot of crap about that one.

some round down though. In the new Dirtwheels, they're testing the Polaris Hawkey(I think) and they have it listed as a 400, but it actually has a 555cc motor.

The Hawkeye died in 2007, it was marketed as a 300 and had a 299cc engine. The same atv is now the Polaris Sportsman 300.
The Hawkeye design got an engine transplant and is now the Sportsman 400HO, and it has a displacement of 455cc. Polaris also used to advertise it's 425cc atvs as 400 class.
The reason they call it something smaller than what it has is so it looks like the machine performs better when compared to it's rivals. The 400HO will look better next a 397cc 400 than it will next to utilities with 450cc sized engines thus making the Polaris seem like it's got best in class power when it's really sand bagging from a class up.
This isn't a problem when rounding up because if your 425cc motor can play with the 450cc machines no one will mind you calling it a 450.
