They are not back-up lights..............Polaris calls the rear work lights....................
There are postings on here .....they don't come with bulbs or rocker switch unless you get the deluxe unit!!!

The back of the Pod (speedo) will have the markings for the switch cut-out
And I forget the bulb number......Just do a search for work lights on the top of this page .................................All your info will come up!!!

Polaris wanted to save about $4 dollars per quad I guess by not installing the switch and bulbs!!!!
.................Caper..................

Is it easier to have the dealer install the unit to make the work lights operable?

You should ask how much they will charge??....Even the labour rates are too high for this job!!
It is only a switch and two bulbs!!!
If your not up to doing it.........It may be worth your while to find a friend someone that can help you!!!!
We can help you here..............Lots of riders did this when there quad came with no work lights!!
It is not a very hard task to do!!!!
....................Caper.......................

just buy the 2 bulbs and a switch (you have to cut out the pod for) and you are all set to plug them in and have them working.

I don't know what you mean when you say "POD".
there is a small hockey puck shaped device on the side of the transmission
that has about 10 or 12 wire connections to it.

I can get the lights and the switch but determining which wires is the trick, yes?

No not that!!!.............The POD is just a term for the driver info center.......Where your speed gauge is and fuel gauge,tech,etc............ALL THE WIRING IS THERE BRHIND IT!!!!

You will "NOT" need to cut or alter anything to add these lights..(switch mounting hole only)...........
When you take the screws out of the POD (they are on each side).............The wiring wil be there for the switch and as Stendori said the back side of the POD will show you a pattern where the switch can be cut out for mounting...........Polaris has the wiring there from the factory they are all the same harness, They only install the switch on the deluxe models............So it is there ready to hook up!!!
.......Hope that helps..............Caper................

If you want the lights to come on when you put it in reverse, you can't just tap into the wires on the range senser. It requires a fair amount of wiring and 2 relays. If you do a search you will find your information on that. The way that Polaris wires it factory you have to manually turn the switch to have the lights to work. Do a search and you'll find a lot of info.
