I have 500 sportsman HO. That I got in november of last year. And my friend got two new Bombardier Traxters for Christmas from his father-in-law(lucky *******). We went out to the muddy river by las vegas, Nevada. I had to pull those guys out of the mud at least 4 to 5 times a piece.
Most time the water is less than a foot but sometimes gets as high as 2.5 to 3.0 feet. It must have something to do with the rear suspension or the 4 wheel drive. But I was very happy with the performance in the mud and water. The bike is totally stock except air filter.

 

alot of it has to do with the gound clearance and 4wd system that the HO uses. the PVT also helps.

what does a guy have to do to get his dad to buy him two traxters for christmas?? that must cost him atleast $14,000. WOW what a gift

I guess the father-in-law was really happy to get rid of his daughter. And it doesn't hurt that he is loaded. And to boot he got a triple bike trailer. Some people got all the luck.

 

Yeah I would be down for some riding. I was thinking with all the rain this week. It would be fun to try out some snow in the mountains. What places do you like to ride?

 

Goes to show not much will beat a Polaris in the mud. I have never been beaten and I have stock tires with 1800 miles on them. But though I will say it does have some to do with driver skill. I bet there is allot of riding places in Nevada. when I was in New Mexico i was wishing I had and ATV.

 

The traxter's getting stuck may have more to do with their weight. If I remember, there are close to 800lbs. Tough, but very heavy.

 

Yeah, the snow would be a kick. We usually ride up above the Centennial wash, or out at the Logandale Trail, sometimes up at Sheep Range. Drop me a line if you guys are heading up in the snow. What area would you go to? I didnt know you could ride in the Mt. Charleston area? Later.

 

Yeah, those Traxters are pretty trick, but they weigh a ton. That might be why the XT comes stock with a winch. Bombardier needs to drop about 125 lb.s on those. Don't know what that is metrically.
