I'm not sure what the top speed is on the new Kodiak but I own a Wolverine and it does close to or more than 60 mph. That'll whoop a Rancher!!

The Wolverine and Kodiak are around the same speed. The Kodiak is a couple of mph's faster. They are both great machines.

If you actually saw a kodiak go faster than a Wolverine there must have been something wrong with the Wolverine.

You know what .. I was reading the manual and on the Kodiak there is a rev liminator. Was wondering if you were to increase that if the top end of the Kodiak would increase. I havn't messed with it yet, waiting for the first service to be completed before messing with the machine. Will know this weekend. Not that I can go really fast in 14inches of snow.

If you get a Wolverine you'll have no trouble beating a rancher in terms of top speed, acceleration, hill climbing, and even through the woods, (depending on the drivers). The only time a rancher is a little better is in the snow, where its diff is a little more effective.
The Kodiak will probably beat a Rancher most of the time as well, but if you want bragging rights over your buddy on a rancher, buy the Wolverine. If you beat him with the Kodiak he'll have a ready made excuse that you've got an extra 50 cc's (actually about an extra 65cc) and liquid cooling to boot. With the Wolverine he'll have to admit that Yamaha's ageing 350 can whoop Honda latest and greatest.

I think if you could play with the rev limiter it would definatly increase th etop speed. That is the main reason that the Rancher and Forman 450 are so slow. They get up to 82kph and won't go any faster. Their rev limiters won't let them. Assuming that the rev limiter on a Kodiak has the same affect, getting rid of it should increase the top end.
If would most likely void your warrenty though.

It is an adjustment screw. I don't think it will void warrenty.

You're joking right. As I recall when we tried a drag race on terrain with perfect traction we were neck until I pulled away from you in about third gear, after which you no longer have a chance.
If this is not how you remember it, we should go out tommorow and try again.
Seriously, I don't remember the Rancher ever out-accelerating the Wolverine.
