Default more help please

thanks for the advise on what to look for on my 2002 polaris 700 4x4. i did look at the cv boots this afternoon, all look good except for the right rear boot right behind the wheel. the boot has a two inch tear on the bottom side of the boot but still has gresse in it so im not sure what kind of shape the axel is in, it has only been ridden about 1 mile since the popping started. now what im am needing to know is how hard is it change out the boot? what steps do i need to take and how long should it take me? thanks you, ya'll have been a big help so far. if its popping (which it is by the sounds) its too late and the cv will have to be replaced because the damage is done. ive tried 3 or 4 times on differnt ones to clean and repack them w/ grease and new boot and there still will pop/click.
if its the outside one(wheel side) there not too bad as you can do them right on the bike after you take hub assembley and what not off you can get at it and may ned a specail set of pliers to take the clamps off.
