my 1999 sport 2wd pops out of gear at about half throttle and sometimes wont go into reverse unless you pull real hard on the lever, does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it? I might be looking to buy a tranny let me now if you got one youd be willing to sell?

 

maby the linkage needs adjustment.....

 

how do you adjust the linkage ? is it easy to do

 

thare is a rod with a joint at each end (looks like a small tie rod) that goes from the shift handle to the tranny. loosen the jam nuts and adjust away......

 

MOst of the time it is the piece that the adtvjusting rod hooks to on the tranny that is stripped.It is called the bellcrank

Well i did all the adjusting i could and the it still pops out of gear in forward and when i put it in reverse it makes weird skipping noise, I think im going to buy a tranny of ebay unless someone on the forums has one thats resonable.

 

was hoping it just needed adjusted. try draining the fluid and see if it has any metal in it...if so yank it out and open it up, cant hurt anything if its already bad....

 

Way not just take yours apart and replace the bad parts?Every used tranny I have gotten have put a new chain in it anyways.

 

I might as well rip it apart and check it out, i was told that it would be better just to get a new tranny the parts are expensive but ill check bike bandit and see, are there any special tools ill need or tricks.
