Last week I bought an 06 Outlaw 500. I'm in the process of getting everything together to service it and give it a tune up.

The previous owner put a supertrapp muffler on it which needs to go, and I'm guessing rejetted the carb, along with taking the lid off the airbox and putting a cone type K&N filter in it.

First question is, what slip on can I replace the God awful loud supertrapp muffler with? I don't want anything anywhere near as loud as the supertrapp.

Second question. I'm guessing this might be related to the airbox lid being removed, but on the carburetor, the back left corner if you are looking from the front of the quad to the back, there is a vacuum type fitting with no hose attached to it. Did the 06 Outlaws have a hose that ran to the airbox lid there? And if so, is it common practice to remove the airbox lid and whater hose was there and just leave the fitting that has the mesh/fabric stuff in it sitting there wide open?

Last question (for now) is how difficult are the carbs to tune for a person that is new to working on ATV's? I've worked on dirt track race cars my whole life, so I understand carburetion and tuning, but the mikuni's are new to me and I don't want to get into something that i'm just going to screw up.

I have never heard a supertrap on an Outlaw so I do not know how it compares, but an HMF slip on with the quiet core is not too obnoxiously loud.
