i just sold my 05 700 and the shield was making a lot of noise, so much that the guy almost backed out. also my new 08 800 rattles after the first 30 miles. its really the only thing about polaris that get under my skin... noise...noise...noise.

I have a 700 and my pipe was making noise. I thought it was the heat shield but is was the mount on the underside of the pipe (up front after the bend). The rubber was gone causing metal to metal contact. My solution? I took a small section of old radiator hose and slit it in half, then placed it between the offending metal. NO MORE RATTLES!

FYI - the hose has been the for over 2 years now.
