Did anyone see the sport ATV reviews in the most recent ATV Sport magazine. They are soo far off. The Raptor and DS top out at 68?? AND the DS accelerates faster? 400EX only does 60? Also a 250 Mojave tops out at 54 and a 300EX at 45?? Dont think so. And all those polaris' doin in the 50's. Just seems off to me.

Darn right! Those Polaris's should at least be at 60 mph! The DS is supposed to accelerate faster than the Raptor...

The DS does get there faster, but it's in the high 70's. Rode my buddies new Raptor and I must say.... it's a sweet ride. I just like the grearth of my DS.

Very funny Zorro old buddy...that would mean that your Shee only hits 61-62...

Sounds about right!

Yeah I agree with yah. I havent rode any of the other machines but the ones I have had experience with seemed way off. Raptor and DS at 68 mph? How could they top out EXACTLY at the same figure? I dunno about acceleration but still. And hey whats up with not mentioning the top speeds of the Blaster and Warrior? I seriously started questioning ATV Sport after reading those reviews! Those results in my opinion were pretty far off for some of those quads.
Oh yeah that brings me to my next question? And I DONT wanna a holy war over this. The DS is a highly tuned bike stock right? And if im not mistaken the Raptor is in a somewhat sedate state? Just wondering? Like I said I dont wanna come back and see WWIII =-) It was an innocent question. Thanks everyone.

When the DS first came out ATVSport did a Year end
Radar run, it and the Banshee tied 71.5 M.P.H.

The Scrambler 500 and the Sport 400 were both
in the 60's.

Lets see one mag say's the D.S. is Quicker.
Two say the Raptor is.
One says the D.S. is faster.
Two say they are tied.

If the Mag's goal is to confuse,
they have met that and then some.

I used to like ATV Sport, and brag it up,
now I'll take those Eggs on my face Sunny Side up
well done.

The D.S. is timed, tuned and adjusted for higher
peak H.P., the Raptor is set up for a broad power
curve.

If that is what you ment by sedate vs highly tuned? .

Great Day
for Everybody,
I hope it stays
that way

After looking/reading atv mags for the last 6-8 months religiously, I can safely say that the mags opinions and speed numbers should be taken with a grain of salt. The best way to have an opinion on any machine is to ride it.

I don't know about the DS but the Raptor is very detuned from the factory. I modified the airbox to run with no lid, pulled out the spark arrestor and rejetted mine. The difference is very significant.
