2001400ex won't start
#1
Hello everyone! I am having a problem with my quad, I was riding it recently and it died on me. It was like I hit the kill switch, all of a sudden it just quit making power and the engine sputtered out while I rolled to a stop and now it won't start. Here is what I have done.
1) checked fuel level and cutoff switch
2) replaced spark plug with new properly gapped plug and tested for spark. I have spark.
3) replaced battery to make sure I am getting all the power I need.
4) Done a compression test. 125psi, which according to the local dealership is good.
I guess the next logical thing is the carb right? When I twist the throttle the valve opens and gas is getting sprayed. But I don't have a lot of experience working on carbs. Thanks in advance for any advice!

If you have spark and compression, its either jumped time(remote chance) or the fuel has an issue. Its posible the carb sucked up some blockage into the jets. Youll have to drop the float bowl and look.

MINE DID THE SAME THING. IM HAVING THE SAME PROB. IVE GOT A NEW PISTON, CARB, BATT, COIL, STARTER SILINOID, VALVES & SEALS, CAM, CRANK, SPARK PLUG, CDI, AND STATOR. THE ONLY THING IT COULD BE NEXT IS THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR. THEY JUS DIE ALL THE SUDDEN. GOOD LUCK.

Try taking spark plug out and placing a SMALL (3 or 4 drops) amount of fuel directly into the cylinder.See if the motor will hit on this.if so your fuel may not be getting to the cylinder from your carb.

Thanks for the replies! I didn't get a chance to mess with it over the holiday, but when I get home from work today I'll spray some gas in the carb and see if it turns over. I'll let ya'll know how it goes.
