how much powerloss. brute/bighorns??
#1
thinking of buying bighorns to replace stock tires. I have 05 750 brute. how much speed / power will I loose ? Will the ride be noticeably smoother ? Will they mount up ok on stock rims ? Plan to buy 25/10/12s & 25/8/12s.
Thanks

I just put some Bighorns on my 05' BF a couple of months ago. At the same time I put ITP Type 7 wheels on it and added the HighLifter ICM so I didn't notice any power loss. It increased actually (due to the ICM). In your case, I would expect to lose very little power. The Brute has got power to spare and the performance of a 6 ply radial tire over the stockers is well worth any minor power loss. I don't think my ride is any smoother with the new tires however. The 6 plys are much stiffer than the 2 ply stockers. In my expirience, the advantage of the Bighorns over the stockers is in the traction and handling rather than softness. On a side-note, I put 25/10/12's all the way around. They fit fine and I figured I've got 4 more inches of traction and the ability to rotate tires when that tire spinning Brute wears the rears faster than the front.

1st I had a set of the 25" Terra - Cross's on my '07BF750, now I am running the 25x8/25x10x12 Bighorns. The Bighorns do rob the power a little vs the T-C's but the added benefits that the Bighorns deliver is well worth it.
