My 2007 Sportsman 500 has about 10 hrs on it now. The dealer had set the first service at 20 hrs. Just curious - How many hrs until some of you guys did the first oil change?

 

I got the first oil change stuff when I got my quad, so when it hit 20 hrs I did the oil. Remember to read owners man. You have to prime the oil pump. That is all I got...

 

20 hrs for the first one then @50 hrs there after. reset the counter in the dian. screen when you change the oil. so it counts down for you.

 

I did my first one at 25 MILES just to get the breakin oil out. It looked very metallic and dirty. Then I just did it again at about 38 hours with all the other fluids. From now on I plan every 50 hours for the oil and 100 hours for the rest of the fluids. I figure its cheep insurance and I feel better that I'll be able to spot a problem before it becomes a real issue.

 

I did the first oil change at the 25 hour mark, then did the oil again at 50 hours along with the rest of the fluids. Now I do the engine oil and filter at 50 hour intervals and the rest of the fluids twice a year (once in the spring and again at the start of winter).
