Default Sportsman front brush guard install help

Yesterday I purchased a used Polaris brush guard for my '05 Sportsman 800. I got a couple of brackets and a bag of hardware, no instructions. Does some one have the install instructions laying around? Could you please email them to me? To be honest I am not even sure if I have all the required hardware.

I have 2 long bolts with ~ 1 1/2" spacers, 4 smaller bolts with washers, 4 larger bolts with washers, 4 smaller self tapping bolts (I think for the rear brush guard), 2 large self tapping bolts and 3 small black nylock nuts. The head light surrounds are all ready bolted to the main hoop using the six carriage bolts and nuts.

Any other help would be great.

Thanks

Pat

if i remember right that sounds like all the bolts that you need. i beleave the 4 smaller bolts hook the brackets to the guard. should be able to screw then in for size. i also remember that you have to take out one of the frame bolts out and replace them w/ the ones from the kit w/ the spacers. your right about the self tapping ones for the rear bumper as theirs 4 of them for the same size. i think you also have to take off the side plastic pieces of the radaiotr w/ the nylon inserts to bolt on the brackets i beleave. if you look at it its pretty easy to figue out i do beleave. i dont have my instructions anymore but maybe one does. good luck and welcome to the forum.

Just to add to what Stendori said...If you want the guard to line up properly you'll have to notch some of the plastic on the front bumper.....There's 2 sets of holes that you can use to attach it to the wheeler.....1 set is for the 400/500's and the other set is for the 600/700/800's.....I used a dremel like tool to notch out the plastic where it hits the bumper and used the correct holes....By doing this the headlight surrounds are more centered around the lights and it looks much better.

I didn't have to notch anything out on mine, in fact I just took it all off to put on my custom Jam-Hard guard. The toughest thing to do is the current factory radiator guard. When I got my new one I couldn't figure out how to get a screwdriver up in there. Well, you don't need to unscrew anything on the current guard. Just grab the bottom corners and pull it out.
Then you should be able to hold the center of the guard up against the front of the frame. You will see what holes are needed, and I think you do need to take out 2 current bolts. This is where the longer bolts with the spacers go. After mounting the front bracket, replace the radiator guard and mount the headlight guards.
You take the radiator guard off so you can reach up and put a wrench on the back of the current bolts.
I guess you should try e-mailing Polaris or maybe go to a dealer and see if they can get you a copy. Pretty easy once you get started.
After re-reading this, I seem to remember having to pull out two of the body panel rivets, as these are bolt holes needed to mount the guard.

Maybe you're not seeing my point........Yes, you're right it will fit without notching but it won't be sitting as centered to the headlights...Some feel that that is fine for them and that's fine...But if you look you'll see 2 sets of holes in the lower flange of the guard....But if you want the brushguard to sit a little more centered to the headlights then yes you do have to notch some plastic to get those holes to work......Do a search on this site and you'll see that I'm not the onlyone who did it like this........I'm not saying that it's right or wrong either way but the way I do things I had to take the extra time and make it right by my standards....
