If you visit that page, you'll see how I went about tearing up my Raptor. Although the pictures don't quite show the damage, you get an idea. I was about a quad lenght from the top when the tires decided they would grab traction once again. (Am I the only one that HATES these super sticky tires?)

Anyway, it was end over end until it got to the bottom.
Things that will get replaced are:
A bursted radiator, metal grill, plastic shield.
Bent clutch lever, rubber cover, throttle parts.
Bent bars, ignition cover, ignition.
Front fender plastic, stickers and emblems.
Center plastic covering tank (possibly)
Fender braces.
Reverse actuator.
Rear grab bar.
GYT-R front grab bar.
GYT-R heel guards (possibly)
Front wheel.
Steering stem (possibly) -can anyone verify that when turning side to side, that the steering stem is perfectly straight when looking from the handlebar clamp?
Various other small parts.

Can anyone suggest checking something I might have missed?

Also, you'll find a link to some pictures of KyRaptor's HIGHLY modded Raptor and various bikes jumping.

I would not even attempt it on the Rancher. No 4wd short of maybe a hopped up scrambler 400 would have the instant speed needed to get up it.

It may be hard to tell from looking at the pictures, but it's like a double hill with a turn after about the first 15 ft. Then it gets really steep... steep enough you would have a hard time getting up it on foot without holding on to the trees. I've made it up with my Banshee when it was dry, but this was the first (and last) attempt with the Raptor, and in poor conditions.

What happened to me? When I came off, I looked up and saw it falling back on me...I ran like he77 to the side until I got behind a tree. Gravity took car of the rest...

Yes, insurance is a great thing.. they may cancel me, who knows, but it was nice to worry about saving myself and not the atv!

Ask KyRaptor about it, I think he saw it all. Probably even better that I did.

The picture of the hill does not show the true angle of the hill. It is STEEPER than it appears in the photo.

From my view at the bottom of the hill it appeared his wheels let go on some snow then caught and pulled his front over. It looked like he was going to make it, he had more than enough speed.

Too bad. I almost did the same thing last weekend on my Raptor. Luckily, a tree stopped both of us before anything happened. How are the a-arms and tie rods? If they didn't bend or break, I'd be really interested to know how the other Raptor guys bent theirs. Your's took a serious digger. Glad you're alright.

Bartman,

I AM THE ORIGINAL "OTHER GUY"!! I was the first one on this site to report bending an A-arm, and it was from coming down hard from a wheelie!

I stated at the time that it had to be a fluke, and after the tumble it took yesterday, I am sure of it. There appears to be no damage to any of the A-arm components.

I compared my steering stem to KyRaptor's, and mine is definitely bent up towards the dogbone, by maybe a half inch or so. Is there a procedure to repair these, or are they a throw-away type item that has to be replaced?

Anybody got a perfect condition steering stem that they want to sell at a reasonable cost?

Hey Bash~
A friend of mine rolled his Polaris 400 sport in almost the same situation as you. His steering stem was bent also. What he did was put it in a vise and he heated it up with a torch until it could be bent back to normal. I'm sure this did weaken the stem slightly, but it was better than paying about 150 bucks for a new one! That's just my thought on the subject.
