LT 50 carb. question
#1
My son just had his first ride on his LT 50 last saturday, the bike ran fine, but it took 20 pulls to get it started. So i decided to take the carb off and clean it. In the middle of it all I removed the air screw without counting the turns. Does anyone know what the correct position is, all the jets are original. I was also wondering when the choke is on and when it is off.
The bike is said to be 2004 model.

I don't knowthe type of choke but on the eton viper the air screw is from 1/2 to 1 1/4 turns out. I believe the main purpose of it is at idle. Iwould imagine that what ever type if choke lever you have imagine what ever direction would pull something away from the carb. If it is a side **** if you pull it out it is choked. Hope this helps.

I am going to assume that if it is said to be a 04' then it is a 4 stroke correct?
Anyway, If the choke is "closed" the lever should be in the down position and vice-versa! There is a great post regarding carb tuning and adjusting. I suggest reading in completely then you will have a better idea of what to expect when adjusting your carb.

If it's a 2004 then it's a LTA50 2 stroke. In 2006 Suzuki changed the model to an LTZ50 and went to a 4 stroke engine.
Try turning the fuel petcock to the prime position while your pulling the rope. It sends gas directly to the intake passage on the head, and helps you get it started. Once it's running turn it back to the on position.
There is also a restrictor in the intake elbow between the carb and the cylinder. When I removed the one in ours, it made the starting much easier. The restrictor is a washer like plate with a small "keyhole" in it. You just have to heat the intake elbow with a propane torch to burn off the adhesive holding it in, then you can just pluck it out with a screwdriver. Do a search for LTA50 mods and you'll find all kinds of info.

It is actually a LT 50 (2-stroke), I bought it used and I was told that it was a 2004, from what I understand is that they have been in and out of production. I´ve also seen somewhere that the last year of manufacturing was 2003, don´t know for shure, my machine might as well be a 2003 model, I´ve had little nofiding out for shure from the serial number.
