Default Choosing ATV

Hi all ~
I will be buying an ATV most likely in the next year and I was not sure on the types and different models.
I need an ATV to haul some trees out of the woods, tow a mower, possibly have a snowthrower put on the front, etc...
However I also want to do alot of trail riding. I have almost 20 acres of woods next to me and would love to explore....
I was thinking around a 400hp?
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you

I have had three Honda Ranchers (two 350's and a new 420), and they have all been absolutely bulletproof (my 350 4X4 is getting near 10 years old now)! They are a nice size...not to big but not to small. You should be able to find a used one in your price range. Do you need 4wd or can you get by with 2wd???

A used Honda Foreman 450 might be a good choice as well.

I say avoid the ES shifting option if you can......

400hp, WOW and you want to run a mower off of it and trail ride I gotta see this j/k, now if you meant 400cc I could understand that. Check with a local dealer and see what they have for used bikes.

And I thought our conversions were fast.

If you're gonna do a lot of work with it, I would look for something with a low-range. An automatic would make chores much easier too. When I first started looking into buying a new ATV, I thought that I'd really regret getting an automatic, but now I wouldn't have it any other way. 4wd will really help with plowing and dragging those logs out of the woods as well. There really are a LOT of different machines out there and none of them are the same. I would read into the different features available and the pros and cons of each and then decide what you want/need and what you don't. From what you said, I think you definitely need a utility machine so hear are some things to consider when looking at the different utility's on the market:

Engine size (this can range from 200cc to 950cc)
Chassis size
automatic vs. manual
tire size
ground clearance
Suspension type (solid rear axle or IRS)
towing/load capacity
1-up or 2-up
4x2 or 4x4
Front differential locker
PRICE
reliability
durability
comfort/ergonomics
available accessories
high/low range vs. no low range
top speed

All of these factors led me to the Suzuki Eiger 400 4x4 in my price range. So take your time and do lots of research. Hope this helps.
