Default TRX250EX or Raptor 350?

Alright, here's the situation. I'm wantin a new quad. I've found a Honda TRX250EX and a Yamaha Raptor 350. Only $200 more for the Raptor. I'm looking for something fast and agile. I wanna be able to keep up with one of my friends who has a YZ85. I'm in a bad position, which should I get?

The 350 rappy is a mildly upgraded warrior. With the Honda you get that good old Honda reliability! Yamaha makes a good product as well. Depends on your experience and personal preference. Either one is a good quad but the rappy 350 is probably a little faster and is fully manual shift. I think the Honda 250ex has the sport clutch where you can use the clutch or shift without. Again, both good quads just depends on what you like best. If you are comfortable with the 350, why not try the 400ex or the Suzuki Z400??

I had a Warrior back in the day (probably before you were born), and it was the worst quad I ever owned....handling was very clumsy (a very heavy feel). The Raptor 350 is a warmed over Warrior, and while that engine is reliable, it is absolutely ancient.

The 250EX is fun, but it has its limitations. It is light and agile, but the rear suspension has limited travel (because it is shaft drive). It's not super fast, but it's 50 pounds ligher than the Raptor, so it has a big weight advantage.

If you want something in that catagory, I would suggest a 300EX or better yet the new Raptor 250....

First of all, I would get a 400, but I can't afford one. I've been riding for 6 years, so I can ride pretty much anything. If I was to find a 300EX, would you suggest getting it over a raptor 350 or a TRX 250?

Well, if I were in your situation, choosing between the three, I'd take the 300ex. Thats just my opinion though. Good luck on your search and let us know what you get.

If you're going to need to keep up with a YZ 85 better seriously consider a 400 class quad. Top speed on the bike is at least 60, and its going to get their a lot faster than a 250 to 350 size quad. Depends on how good your friend with the YZ 85 can ride though, because bikes can be very operator dependant when it comes to speed.

A Raptor 250 weighs 47 lbs less than a 250 EX, and it accelerates faster than the 250 EX or even the 300 EX, but they're new, and expensive. I would think you could find a used 400 EX for a good price if you look around. There are a million of them out there.

Alright, well I'm going to look around to see what I can find. I could easily ride a 400 class. Maybe I can find a 400ex for a good price.
