Default One bike, 2 types of riders...suggestions

My father (who is almost 60) has decided that at this point in his life, he wants a quad. I go out a fair bit and am used to my SO's manual honda 350. My dad wants something completely automatic and ideally with power steering...for leisurely rides down a dirt road. I advised him to to invest in a golf cart.

I know that in a few years he will no longer be riding which means I will inherit it (or my son who will be 5 in April and will getting a quad for his birthday) so I would like something that would also work for the way we ride...mountains, moderate mud, swamp, but nothing 'hardcore'. My dad is also a large man so it would need to be able to accommodate him on the rare occasion that he comes to the 'backyard' with us. I, however, am small and have never driven anything bigger then the 350. Ideally I would like to look at something that would work for both of us (granted it will be his and everything should accommodate him first)

1- Is there anything that can go from manual to automatic?
2- Suggestions?

Nothing outrageously expensive please. Colour does not really matter (although red and yellow are his top picks). Used is fine as well (if there are any years you can suggest)

Thanks in advance

A used honda rincon might be a good choice. Very dependable, and great, smooth, non jarring ride, and itll do some mudding, but not hard core stuff. Its a torque converter automatic, just like a car. But theres no true manual/automatic, but a rubicon would be close...it can be 'shifted' or just put in drive and go.
If you want to save money....buy used. If you buy a honda, theres not much downside. All the honda models are dependable, and are desireable by others, when you sell. Plus if you buy used, the depreciation is much le$$. Buying a new quad, is a nice feeling, but they drop 2 large when you drive out the door.
