I'm I being taken?

I had to return a Big Bear because was nearly impossible to shift out of reverse. My wife rides it, and absolutely could not shift out of reverse.
Anyway, the dealer seemed cool about it.. the Big Bear only had 10 miles on it. So I decided to check out the electric shift 2006 foreman with power steering he came back out with a MSRP of the 08 Honda Foremans and cut me a little slack by taking $500 off. The odd then is that in this line of Foreman and Rubicons, all were 07s and all were marked down by 1500 or more... except for this one. He said it was because it had the power steering.
HMMMM... just didnt make sense to me so I balked at the deal. For one thing why would the 07s have the same MSRP as the 08s? I think the dealer feels a little stung by taking the Big Bear back and is trying to catch back up some.
I wonder if I should just get the cash back and go to another dealer... not sure if they would do a cash back deal though.
Does this sound fishy to anyone? The one we were looking at was obviously a floor model with the plastic scruffed up from shoes and whatnot.

First time you ride it, its gonna get scuffed up, so thats a non issue.
Hes a very good dealer, to accept a return. Im unaware of any other dealer willing to do that. He runs a business, not a charity and youre gonna hold it against him, if he makes money on a deal?
I'd be truely amazed, if he allowed you to take the money back. And once you ask for it, you can be sure, thered be no more slack coming your way.
The big bear didnt have power steering, so go for the cheaper, non power steering foreman. Its actually a very good, reliable quad.
Just my 2 cents

if i was you u might want to think twice about returning the first atv and see if he could fix the problem with shifting out of reverse. maybe it might be cheaper for you if he can fix the shifting problem. to me it just sounds like a minor adjustment. how ever if its not a minor adjustment he should beabe to have the atv fixxed under the warente. this may be the cheaper salution for you and make bothe parties happy. i think ur most likely to recieve better service from the dealer if u give him a chance to fix the shifting problem. just my opinion. wish u lots of luck and hope u enjoy ur new ride for ur wife!

I think your dealing with a good and fair dealer. It's amazing he's willing to take the Big Bear back. He's going to have to sell it as a used unit no matter how few miles are on it so he will loose some $$ on that part of the deal so if he is making a little more on the other end it's better than you having to keep a quad you aren't happy with

He's giving you ALL of your cash back for the Big Bear--like every penny you spent on it? This would really surprise me. You are now returning a used quad.
Or is he just considering it a used quad trade-in on a new quad and giving you the trade-in value of a used Big Bear? This seems more likely. If he is doing this, you are going to take a huge hit on the trade-in. Just get your quad fixed under warranty. You'll be down at least $1000 over night + any tax and license fees.
