i have been looking for parts on ebay for my 87 warrior and the year seems to be not popular but i see alot of parts for years 89-04 will parts for them years still work on my quad...?

 

yes, from 87-04 nothing has changed except for some small things like electrical wire harnesses and lights. everything else is still the same. i have alot of parts on my 87 warrior that are off 95 and up.

 

There are more changes than you realize. The a-arms are different, the frame is a little different, headlights are different, and the swingarm and axle bearing carrier are different. Very subtle changes, but just enough not to work with the later models.

 

Yeah, there have been quite a few changes like raptor450 said. A lot of suspension components, a good portion of the braking system, most of the electrical system, even the carburetor and cylinder head have changed. There's still a lot more things that yamaha SHOULD have changed but never did.

What kind of parts are you looking for?

 

so i can use pretty much any year parts like exhaust, bumpers, now what if i wanted to put like raptor front shocks...? i heard the would work .... any feedback... i only paid 800 for my quad but am looking for a good place to pick up parts online...

 

Don't assume anything will work. The bumpers, for one, do not interchange because the entire front section of the frame was redesigned.

Exhaust is the same throughout the years.

As far as raptor shocks go, you don't have a lot of options. The front shocks on the 660 and 700 are too long. The rear shocks on every year except for 2001 have an offset reservoir and don't work. A 2001 660 shock will work, but is longer than the stock one so it raises your ride height a couple inches. Any of the shocks from a raptor 350 will work, but they are hardly an improvement.

 

do you have any suggestions on where to shop for parts online..? as to the bumper I HAVE to use one from an 87 no other year will work...

 

another quick question what about twist throttle...? opinion

 

I never had to shop for parts on an 87, i'd say just the regular places. Rocky mountain atv, dennis kirk, motosport, magic racing, etc. There are aftermarket bumpers that fit the 87-88 models, I know for sure that DG makes one and I think some other companies do to. I'd check PRM too, they might make one.

I'm not sure exactly what kind of opinion you're looking for about the twist throttle, but in my opinion twist throttles on a quad suck in general. I was never able to get used to one. There's a reason quads come from the factory with a thumb throttle, you have to turn your handlebars a lot sharper than you do on a bike, so your wrists are naturally going to want to twist when you turn sharp. The last place you want to accidentally gun the throttle is going into a sharp turn...

 

what about wheel spacers...? do they work...? cheaper way to widen the front...?
