I use a R.A.M. mount for my Lowrance H2Oc is works great!!!........A little pricey though!!.........Full adjustment.......But I do have the buttons on the front of the G.P.S. instead of the side which is easier to use while in the mount and driving the Quad!!!...........Caper...........

just wondering guys on your gps you all have how they stand up in rough riding and getting wet and muddy or do you even use them when your riding this way? im thinking of getting a gps for my wheeler in the spring(assuming i can ride it) and wanted to know if its even worth it because of riding style if it would A. last, B. not fall off, C.how they work on not maped out trails.

Im half afraid to take mine riding too. I take it when I'm hunting or putting around but started to wonder if the constant vibration and bumps would mess it up I have a Rhino 520 which is awesome and I want to keep it that way

I have a RAM handlebar mount for my Etrex Legend and it works fine. I've even accidentally left it on the ATV on the trailer ride home and it still works fine. I have no complaints.

I bought the Garmin bike/handlebar mount that fits the model of my GPS, a 60CSx. I mounted it right next to my brake resivoire and it works great. The garmin I have is advertised to waterproof, but I have found out that its not completly. It plugs right ito my 12v on my headlight pod. About $20.00 from sportsmans.

If you're worried about the vibration and abuse (makes sense... constant vibration is bad for electronics and atennas/receiver) I'd say carry it on your person. Put it in a jacket pocket or cargo pocket on your pants. That way, very little vibe. Obviously, that won't work in the mud... carry a bag (ziploc or whatever). When you get to the hole and getting wet is inevitable, put it in a bag and put it in the rack until you're through. just my two cents

Hello stendori,
I have an old Magellan Meridian that I used for finding fishig lakes in the sierras. It is rubber armored and water/dust proof. Many of the hiking or trail GPS's are built for abuse. I do a combination of riding from rock crawling to fast sand wash and waterboard running, water crossings, not much "real" mud just when it's in my way ;>. As far as riding on unmapped trails it willl help if you have a Topo map installed of the area you are riding. It will show you where you are and how to get to where you want to go. Plus if you find yourself turned around, you can backtrack to your homebase. It does show a lot of trails, even some I thought for sure would not be mapped.
