I am thinking about buy a polaris scrambler 400, it is a 1996 and is 4x4, anyways the guy says it will need all new chains and sprockets, and I got a price on the sporckets but am unsure as to what size chain I will need. So I was wondering if anybody could tell me what size chain(length and width) these quads need for the front, rear and for the drive on the side that goes from font to rear? Also, do the sprockets on these quad have an tendency to strip, or what could have caused them to all strip? And can you mount anything in front of the raditator like a winch ect. or does that affect the cooling of the Rad?

Shortly after doing all my mods my front sprocket started loosing teeth. I also did alot of wheelies and jumping. When you land and the tires are spinning faster than your going that puts alot stress on the sprockets. I replaced mine with TEAM sprockets and a DID X-Ring ATV chain. Since then I have had 0 wear on them. As for the length I think mine was a standard long length and you have to buy the "link" kit and remove lengths to make it the right size for my scrambler.

As for a winch in the front I would say you should have no problem. Mine is a 500 4 stroke and the only time my fan kicks in high is when I am driving through alot of realy thick mud(High RPM-Low air flow).
