Question for all 800 owners have any of you noticed when you shift into Hi/Low or reverse and you start to take off from a dead stop in forward or reverse It always sounds like its going in to gear with a delay. In others words I would think when you go forward or reverse you should not hear any type of gear or clutch sound, to me it sounds like it locks into gear as soon as I start to hit the throttle whether Im going forward or reverse has anybody else heard the same sound? Is this normal or should I take it back to the dealer and have it looked at?

My 07 800 sounds about the same. It has about 40 miles on it.

Mine does the same thing. My 500 does not do it, just my 800. I just ease into the throttle so the clunk is very light.

It just sounds like something isnt right, you would think after a long period of time of the clutch acting that way that it would put a lot of stress on parts. I wonder if it would still act or sound that way if you put in an aftermarket clutch kit say like a dalton or something?

Could just be the nature of the beast. Stendori has a Dalton clutch spring and his still does it.

I have found if I wiggle the shifter once I have it in the gear I want it seems to not have the clunk. Makes me wonder if it's the linkage that is not quite precise and the wiggle gives it the extra lock.

My 07 800 does the same thing and I have a Dalton clutch installed. Atleast it doesn't have the belt whine some of the others have!

I would like to find an adjustment or a fix for this I dont think that there should be that much delay in the clutching that would be like a transmission on a car slipping while its in gear......................
