hey i am having 2 problems with my 01 polaris sportsman 500

1- my rear light wont light up but when i add the brake it does light up . when i baught the bike a year ago it worked but not now .

2-my 4x4 is not working . it worked there a few weeks ago but not now . when i use the switch to put it into 4x4 the light wont work nor it goes into 4x4 . today i was out rideing around in the snow and i went to put it into 4x4 and i got stuck right away sooo when i got it out i put it into two wheel drive and it was alright but when i put her in 4x4 it was exactually the same .

guys i have no clue about these problems and i am hoping yee can tell me .

Brake light bulb needs to be changed,brake light element is working but your running light element is burned out.

You need power to the switch for the AWD to work. Do a "search" on this site for "NO AWD" its usually a easy fix.

 

so your brake light works and your tail light doent? most likely, like he said the bulb. make sure you have power going to the awd switch and the bulb isnt blown.

yes my brakes light works but like when i am driving around the light supose to stay on but it dont . when i add the brake it works . ya i never changed the bulb in it so i may be that .

i have no power to the AWD what so ever . but in the mean while i am gonna search TLC said and see what i can come up with .

okay guys i road the atv again today and my speado aint working and neither is my AWD .. i was told today if the speado aint working the AWD is not gonna wotk either .. anyone know what the cause of this and how to fix this .

oh i forgot to mension that my neutral light is not working either .

 

you might have a power wire that fell of your key switch that suplies other things with power thats what it sounds like you have alot of electrical things without power. and for the tail light take off teh 2 scres and look at the bulb it has 2 elements one for brake and one for running light. one might be broken or the electrical might all be conected with that problem.

not sure about your neutral light but it sounds like a bulb or maybe your wire fell off. take your headlight pod off and take a look around.
as far as the 4x4 and speedo, no fix other than replacing the speedo if you are wanting both to work again. i had the same problem and man it was expensive, $320 i think.
however, you can bypass the speedo to get your 4x4 working, not sure how but you can search it or someone will probably chime in and let you know how to do the bypass.
i didn't bypass mine because i wanted my speedo to work again. goodluck-PB500

 

okay thnaks .. yeah i want my speedo working so i am gonna have to buy one off ebay or something. so this is the reason why my 4x4 is not work is cause of my speedo... i never knew that ha ha
