Default Oil in Air Filter box

Rolled my Outty 650 a couple weeks back. It was on it's back for about 45 seconds with engine running before I killed it and flipped it back over. I noticed that there was some engine oil that had leaked out. However, I finally had a chance to get it apart and look further into it. Turns out that I had about a cup of engine oil sitting in the bottom of the Air Filter box, the Air filter had come off and was soaked with oil as well. I'm guessing that the engine got there because the bike was upside down and the oil was draining through the cylinder intakes. Now moving forward, what else should I be looking for regarding possible damage that could have occurred to the engine?

It probably came from your crank case vent tube. It shouldn't have hurt anything the only thing I would wory about is the filter coming off that would suck dirt into your motor and wipr out your rings. I would change the oil and filter and clean out the air box and the air filter and run it and it should be fine.

I had that happen to me once when i layed the 800 over onto the left side for a minute, oil from crankcase breaker tube will syphon up to the air filter box. just clean out the oil so it dosent contaminate the sensor and you will be fine.

Thanks for insight. Yes, cleaned air filter box thoroughly. However, I still notice that, when running, the exhaust pipe (where it comes out of the engine) is smokinig from oil. I'm guessing that I probably will need to pull the pipe off and clear out as well. Also, I ordered the HMF Penland exhaust and the Dobeck as well. Up at HMF yesterday (I'm able to visit their storefront since I live less than an hour away), they were saying that the combo should net me atleast 5 more HP which will be a difference I will feel. Now, the big question, my neighbor just bought a Polaris 800 touring model yesterday, Do ya think my 650 with the mods be able to beat his stock Po800???

I have 2 friends who have or had the polaris 800,1 sold his and got the 800 can-am and the other wants to do the same, back to the question, I think it will be close,if you get him it would be on top end.I have dune stars on the front and 14 paddle on the back and race in 4x4 mode, the pol dosent stand a chance with the can-am 800, so i believe you certainly have a very good chance to win.Good luck.
