Default 07 Cat 500 4x4 vs. 05 Cat 500 4x4

I run an 05 AC 500 4x4. I love it. My buddy loved it so he bought the 07. His quad smokes mine! I secretly went out and clutched mine last week. Wow what a difference! I was more than satisfied...until he rode over and I decided to line them up again. He still smokes me. From the bottom all the way through, he pulls away! There is about 100 pound difference between the two of us. For that reason, we swapped and lined them up again. His quad with me on it 100 pounds heavier still spanked mine! I told him about clutching it and he's still laughing at me! The only visual difference we can find between our two atv's is the pipe. Mine is definitely different. I can only assume that the jetting may be different due to the different pipe he's running. Other than the clutch kit I just got, which did make a huge improvement, both of these quads are stock.

I'm new to this forum. Can anyone help me out? I don't need to beat him, but I'd like to keep up! Okay...I want to beat him!

add a speedwerx pipe and rejet for the pipe. huge difference. add some snorks. and rejet again due to more air. or for a quick gain add an aftermarket cdi. you will definately smoke him. a bbk is relatively cheap and will leave your bud in the dust. the only difference i can see between the 2 machines is the diffs have a different gear ratio. and you say he has a different pipe.

ymjr, if you have an 05 you might want to give your frame a goo once over to check for cracks in the frame, it seems to be a problem on the04 thru 06's. Check out the crack frame section on arctic chat
