2005 honda rincon??
#1
I just bought a 2005 honda rincon 650. I have a honda foreman 450es also. I bought the 650 for a more powerful fourwheeler. Well It actually feels like my 450 has more low end torque than the 650. I don't know if its the gearing in the 650 or what. Have any of You noticed this? I was wondering are the new 680's geared different, or do they have more power than the 650. I'm really dissapointed in the power of this atv. I think I am going to sell it, and look at the new 680's. Someone give me some info about these new rincons. I want something that has a good bit more power than my 450. The 650 just doesn't feel more powerful to me. Could be the auto, but I figured it would be better than what it was.

No Honda Utilities feel powerful, even the largest 680 has its hands full with some newer 500 Utility out there. If you want to get more power you have to leave the brand.

I love my new chart. It all starts from the crank ,the Hondas are the only machines that lose no HP to the wheels somehow?
I rode with a 680 Rincon it tops out a a little over 60mph and does not not embarrassedly beat me from a dead stop to top end where a big bore "should". A 660 Grizzly which is more in its league completely killed it.
I had a 450 Foreman and admitted the ATV was underpowered and on the slow side especially seeing a 300 Lakota leave me in the dust.
The words ,Honda,Utility and power house will never be used together at once until the move away from the SOHC motors they been using for years, increasing the bore and stroke does not do much for them.
Look at Suzuki, there new 450 Utilities have more power than there discontinued 500s did.
Its called "progress" not "let stay put".
Park a 96 400 Foreman Next to a 08 500 Foreman and its scarry how little has changed.

my engine in my 450 isn't a sohc its an ohv. I don't think its slow, and unpowerful. I was just dissapointed in going from my 450 to the 650. I figured there would be an upgrade there. To me it felt like the 450 had more torque. I know my foreman 450 out pulls similiar cc fourwheelers of that year, but I was wondering if the 680 gearing is different than the 650? It seemed like it was all top-end power. I want more for hauling and towing. I'm prolly going to stick with Honda. What would be there strongest pulling atv?

Horse power ,low range and true 4wd (4wheels out pull 3 wheels anyday) for traction is what the strongest pulling ATV has.
So a 500 rubicon may well out pull a 680 rincon because it atleast has a low range option.
OHV stands for overhead valve.
SOHC stands for single overhead cam.

Yea I know what the ohv means thats why I said it wasn't sohc its an ohv. Well I have a 450 es now will stepping up to the 500 rubicon benefit me any? Is there that much difference between the 450 and 500? I mean my 450 does good, but it has 9350 miles on it. I wanted something a little newer. I abuse my atvs pretty badly that why I want to stick with a Honda. They have never let me down. Other atvs have.

Ohv is even older tech with push rods, than a SOHC set up. Dohc will be the norm soon enough.
The advantage of the OHC engine over a pushrod one is the absence of all the rods and rockers. Less moving parts sucking up power and losing cam timing.

i got an 05 rincon , jetted, pipe, filter, and 26 inch mud runners, it is a dead heat in the 1/8 between it and a 660 and the 700 polaris, i dont know how the upgrades are different from stock b/c i had them installed before i took it home new, i can hold the 750 brute until 40 mph then i get smoked. buttttt everyone wants to ride mine b/c it will wheelie in a heart beat. may be a little high geared but i bet after a 4 hour ride my *** wont be sore like yamas and kawas and polaris. also remember the rincon is 600 pounds dry

The 650 Rincon should be significantly more snappy than the 450 Foreman, so I wonder if yours isn't running right?
The 680 is more responsive, and slightly more powerful, but not a night and day difference.
In comparing the 450 Foreman to the 500 Foreman, the 500 has some more power, but suspension/ride/handling I think is the biggest difference between those two.
