Just looking for part for this I traded a used chainsaw for it. It sat for 5 years but hooked battery to it fired right up. but I believe there is a problem in the gears somewhere. Not sure don't know much about It. Thanks Chris

 

I believe the 200SX was only made from 1986 to 1988 and then in 1991 they came out with a Type II 200 & Type II 200D. They are all basically the same engine.

You need to find out what exactly you have - the 10th character of the VIN gives the year (1981 starts "B", then each year is the next letter up - skipping the letters "I", "O", "Q", "U" - 2000 is "Y", then numbering starts for 2001 up).

Parts are still available thru Honda, many of the online sites have the parts breakdown for these.

 

I went to the local dealer and I told them what I thought I had and they said it was a 200sx I had them check 86 and up for the differances in the motors and they said they were pretty much the same but they didn't know about the transmissions though they said could be different. So don't know I will be at a motorcycle swap meet this weekend I will ask around. Thanks Chris

 

The transmissions are different on a few years. The SX models were all 5 speeds. When the TypeII and 200D were released, they went to a 4 speed setup. Then around 1992 (sorry..not for sure which year) they went back to the SX 5 speed tranny.

 

this one I believe is a five speed. I just found a friend down the road that has the same one sitting in the weeds for parts how crazy is that. Thanks For your reply I sure glad I found this site. Thanks Chris
