I was wondering if anyone knew of a place that would do major mods to quads (hey that rymes)in the minneapolis area? I like my
00 wolverine , but it's to slow for me now.
Is it worth adding mods or should I look into
a new mechine to satisfy the need for more speed in a 4x4?

Well mods on a four stroke are a little more frustrating because a pipe does not do as much as on a 2-stroke motor. You will need to go into the motor to get big gains. A scrambler would be faster and easier to get more speed from but they are not as durable(not to offend polaris owners). I really like the wolverine. If I were you I would leave it stock or maybe add a K&N filter with re-jetted carb. This might not be enough for you and if so,do you really NEED 4x4? If not, a 400EX or even the new DS650 WILL be much faster. I own 2 fully modified 250R's and aside from the speed modified engines bring along alot of aggravation and sometimes I wish I had a stock 400EX to just ride. Don't take that for granted. Thats my 2 cents.

If you have the money to spend then Four Stroke Tech offers a bore and stoke kit that takes your wolverine up to 490cc. You can spend any where from $970. to $2472.

You could do that and hope it could come close to a scrambler, or you could buy a scrambler. Dirt wheels called the scrambler 500 the fastest best suspensioned 4x4 you can buy

I'm not going to get into a pissing contest with polaris owners. But I don't really want a polaris. I'm looking for other solutions.
Have any?

A bore kit would be great , but......
Who would bore it and install it locally?
I am not able to because I know nothing about how to do it. I would have to leave that up to a professional.

Dirtwheels also named the 500 wolverine the fastest 4x4 ever tested(even the scrambler). the work was done by four-stroke tech.

I think the Wolverine/BigBear kit is the same...
Try www.highlifter.com and look at their complete power kit. The offer two versions, one is all external stuff for a modest power increase, The other comes with a different piston, camshaft, and all the other kit pieces. A friend of mine that rides a 99 BigBear and is gonna install the complete kit as soon as time and money permit. He has a problem turning the 26" Vampires in heavy mud.

I would call a ATV shop or maybe even a motorcycle shop.
