Purge oil
#1
I've tried searching for oil change tips and have come across what to drain (oil tank and engine) but I've also seen the tip that involves pinching a hose to prime the oil. Can anyone go further into this? Maybe if you have a few pictures that would be great. I've got about 15 hours on my 500 efi and was going to do the oil change this weekend.
So far I'm loving the 500 I just want to take care of it properly and get many years of use out of it. Thanks

Here's one thread on it.

And there are numerous other threads on this topic. Just search "oil" "pump" "prime" and you will see them all.
Good luck.

I think if you buy the Polaris oil change kit it has the instruction for the procedure. I can,t speak for everyone put this works for me.
I only drain the oil tank, then i start the bike for a couple of seconds and the pumps throws out a additional cup of oil from the crank. I change the filter but fill it with oil to help with the oil pump priming process.
Not the correct procedure but its fast and avoids the priming thing.
and gets most of the oil out of the crank without draining it.

I would think that doing this might actually cause you to lose prime...
