Raptor Exhaust Systems. Any Opinions??
#1
I'm ready to purchase an exhaust system for my Raptor, but I'm still undecided what to buy. I've been looking at the Graydon Proline, DMC Alien (when it arrives), White Bros., Big Gun etc. I've heard the Big Gun system makes the most power throughout the RPM range. Is this true? If money is no option, sound doesn't matter, and MAX. power is the most important factor to me, what would be the best system I could buy? Thanks in advance for any info. you can give me.

I have had very good success with the BIg Gun systems. I have one on my Raptor and i had one on my 440ex. My Raptor ran about 75mph stock, with the full BG exhaust, Pro design filter and jetting it now runs 81.8mph, and it pulls harder everywhere. My friend has the complete CT pipe and he has the same mods that I do. Both of our bikes run about the same on top end, but mine pulls harder down low, of course no 2 quads are the same, but from what i have seen and heard no one is disappointed in the BG system. I have heard that the DMC alien wont be out for another 4 months. Stay away from the FMF system entirely, it has an almost identical headpipe as the stock Raptor headpipe, so if you ever dicede to stroke the machine it is likely that the FMF wont be able to handle the extra flow.

Pick up the March issue of Dirt Wheels. It has a pipe shootout for the 400EX. Sound levels, lowend HP, peak HP, weight , etc are all tabulated for a bunch of pipes and dyno charts are included. CT's pipe made the most power, but was the loudest. This is all for the 400EX, but it is good info anyway.

With the Air box lid off and a Pro design filter. I am running 165, 170 and 27.5 pilots. I am also running a 14 tooth front sprocket, yeah, yeah i know, I should be running a 12 right? well i dont do a lot of woods riding no do i do any motorcross riding with it. The 14 did not really give me any more top end, but it did allow me to pull the gears longer. I put the 14 on it when it was bone stock and it didnt help the top end at all, but now it pulls harder through the gears and in a short drag race it is even faster than the 13 tooth.I think it allows the bike to grunt more.

You do know that BG makes different inserts for thier pipes right? allowing you to make them quieter. YOu may want to get something like the FMF pipe of one of the others that is not a real race pipe like the BG or the CT. I have the BG on my bike now and it has the race core in it and it is quite loud, my friend ahs the CT pipe and it is just as loud if not louder. But all BS aside, if a pipe is going to flow good it is usually going to be pretty loud

No2Stroke,
Thanks for the reply...I'm currently working out the jetting for a Pro Circuit T4 and an (I know your opinion) FMF headpipe with a Pro Design Filter. I'm thinking of just going to the Dynojet Stage 2 Package...My Raptor was a little lazy on top end this W/E (strong on bottom), but, aside from being lean with 145/150 jets, I think the first time I used 93 octane will be the last. Mods definitely have to be synched, huh?
