Default K&N or Uni on an '07 Hawkeye

I've noticed that the quad is slightly rich now since I put the IDSX muffler on it. I noticed the other evening that the inside of the muffler is glowing red. I went to SuperTrapp's forum and was told it is slightly rich even though the plug reads good. I removed the stock air filter and rode it around the neighborhood today and throttle response is much better with the filter removed, and the plug still looks good.

Question I have is which filter is "better" at filtering? I need more air, but do not want to be sucking in a bunch of grit either.

Hey 00XJ,

I also have a 2007 Haweye 300 I have done every thing you have (but not the Clutch Roller mod) and i bought the UNI 2-Stage Air Fliter You need to buy the Spray that they recomend and so far I belive it breath's better and with the sticky spray stuff that you put on it it really catches all the dirt & grit!!

How many Disc did you put in your muffler, I have the IDS2 Suppertrap in lieu of the IDSX, just thinking it might give me a little more over all performace. I am running 12-Disc and it has a lot more get up a GO now!! But i have not tryied more or Less to see if it makes any difference. Thanks for any come back on this!!

maddog,

I'm running with 10 disc's in my IDSX. Does the "sticky spray stuff" come with the Uni filter? Is it the same thing that K&N has? K&N's is more like an oil, and not sticky though.

No-Toil is supposed to be super sticky. http://www.notoil.com/ They have videos about their patent-pending system too.

00XJ, No the spray does not come with the UNI Filter, and it is more like oil. I known i said it was sticky but i realy mint it was oily. Sorry.

I took 4-disc out today and ran the bike and it made it a little slower, so i put back all 12-disc.
