I was out riding in a new place yesterday. We were out on a sandbar at the river. I just put on a new carb,tires, wheels, reed cage on my bike and was out there speed testing it. Then along came a 2000 banshee. He had the cool head,toomey t5's,boyeson reeds,reed spacer,12 tooth sprocket, and a boost bottle. Really nice bike. So he pulled up, we lined up and away we went. I had him by about 2 lenghts right out of the hole and by the time i topped out in 5th gear i was a good 6 lengths ahead. I couldn't believe it. I have beat stock banshees but never raced one with any mods. We raced a few more times and the beating just got worse. I took off in 2nd gear instead of first and really got him out of the hole. I heard so many excuses after that. I didn't care, my buddies and I new who won. I'm glad I didn't put 8000 bucks into a new machine. How does everyone else do against the yamaha banshee? Has anyone ever raced a ds650 or raptor on their trike before? Why would you spend 7000 on a new quad when you can get more performance out of a 15 year old trike for 10% of that?

 

Man that is awesome! There has been talk on another board about getting someone to do a shootout w/ a atc250r, tecate3, tri-z, and 350x vs. new quads....I keep telling them it will never happen b/c the manufacturers that pay their bills will never let the public see their $6-8000 machines getting whipped by 15yr old trikes that cost 1/4 the price of a new one!

 

Think about it... the weight to power ratio is much better on the trike than any quad. If a quad 250r can beat a Banshee then the atc250r should whip it even easier.
250sx you're right about the manufacturers too. Since they basically pay to keep the magazines running there is no way they would put up with seeing their new so called "updated" quads get insulted by something that's that old even though the quads are basically the same as they where then anyway.

I love trikes. I have a 86 ATC250r waiting for the guy to get it. It has alot of work in mods but my Raptor still wins in a d5age race against it and the DS is right beside it. But there is where it stops.

Bring your $11,000 dollar investment in 2 quads and we'll drag race against my 17 year old antique. As for a track...WTF have you been smoking. Everybody knows that they arent MX machines

Ya your bikes are what 15 years newer with how many more cc displacement what is it like 500 or so. This just shows who are the real riders the one on 3 wheels not 4

 

I wish my mommy and daddy would buy me a new raptor and a DS. So I could be faster than everyone on this board.

 

Maybe he's upset because mommy and daddy bought him the Raptor and DS and he still isn't the fastest. :-O
