Default 03 raptor 660 starter help

so i just got this 03 raptor 660, i had to replace the starter one way bearing before i did anything ( as it was already apart) now that i have that fixed i go to sart it and the solenoid just clicks.
i tried jumping it off another atv and also off my truck but still just clicks
next i tried to jump the solenoid and was like 4th of july just started sparking, on one side of the solenoid it positive and the other side is ground. that just doesnt seem right to me. the wire to the starter from the solenoid is ground. i then pulled the wire off the starter and checked the terminal on the starter without the wire connected and it is grounded.........................please help i am at my witts end

1st make sure all connections are clean, I would remove them all and use sand paper to clean the connections, then try again. Another thing you can do is connect booster cables from a good battery to the starter, + on the starter terminal and - on the starter mount somewhere. This will bypass the solenoid and let you know if it's a solenoid related problem

i checked all the connections and they are all clean, also i tried to put the positive side of jumpercables on starter but it is grounded and sparks. the terminal on top of the starter is grounded. so i thought that is what is causing the one side of the solenoid to be grounded. i then disconnected the wire from starter and still the wire on solenoid wont get power. when i jump the solenoid it sparks even if wire is disconnected from starter

the termainal on the starter is not grounded, it is a positive lead, the ground is what mounts to the engine.

thats what i thought....however when i take a lead light and clamp it to the battery on the positive side and touch the other end to the starter terminal the light lights up as it would if i had touched the negative side of battery, therefore meaning the terminal is grounded ( i do agree with you that it should be positive but it is not) i have checked all around machine and there are NO ground wires that are out of place and nothing is touching the starter to ground it out.....this is why i am confused

I see, well sounds like you might have a broken wire inside the starter touching the case causing this to happen.
