why do you guys like it -

Hey guys i was having a couple problems with my quad and found out that someone might want to buy it. Anyway, I was always contemplating atv vs. dirtbike and now my dad will suddenly let me get a bike so i have that option. after finally riding ive come to a couple things.
with my atv I was:
- not able to make tight turns
- not able to go down certain trails that dirtbikes could
- not as quick either
the only reason i might not want a dirt bike is because i can ride atvs in the winter.. and i know when i get good im sure i can whip out the back end to make tight turns but
im just curious why you guys would rather have an atv.. and also, my friends were saying that since my 400ex is heavy there 2 stroke 125 dirtbikes are faster.
when u guys ride do u feel that dirt bikes are a lot faster than you? why do you pick atv over dirtbike basically..
thanks for any input

Well first off my opinion is that atv's are far superior to dirt bikes as they move over very rough terrain faster and better than dirt bikes, you can also load things on the racks, tow things, move over terrain with out keep putting your feet down, the advantages to me are endless and I could go on and on. A friend of mine got a Honda 250 4 stroke dirt bike and I had a Honda trx250 ex sportrax, and on tarmac he could whoop my ***, but across rough terrain and through woodland he was just left behind, he would try and follow me up steep hills and always end up falling off or putting his feet down for balance, so to me there is nothing better than an atv, but like I said, it is just my opinion.

mud and water are really hard to get across on a dirt bike but if your young and just looking to run around fast and have fun go with the dirt bike they are alot of fun on the trail and great for jumping also.if i could only have one it would be a quad but i would love to have a dirt bike to play around on.

yea i did notice my friends had a hard time getting through puddles and stuff while i could get right through but..
we also hit these trails where i had a hard time getting through and had to take a different way mowing **** down lol. plus my friends told me they go on like adventure rides off the trails where they said i couldnt do that on my quad cause its too wide
do u guys have any problem making tight turns? ima beginner so i cant really like whip the back around but just curious

Dual-sport! You can street license a dirt bike anywhere, but most places won't let you license a quad. With all the riding trails getting closed, this will be the wave of the future.
There are some nice dual-sports out there now, like the new WR250R, KTM's, and the KLX250, and while they are heavier than enduros and make some compromises for the street, they have descent off-road handling.
Other than that, there are advantages and disadvantages to both. Dirt bikes are all the rage here in the desert, but when it gets soft I want to be on some big fat tires! Same goes for snow, and I want to have 4wd. Dirt bikes are easier to store and haul....the lists could go on and on.....

Bike would probably be faster in a drag. But speed isn't everything. If you'll be riding with all bikes it'll be hard to go with them because, they will take different terrain. If you ride with all quads it would be harder for a bike. If mixed. I'd go with a quad. More comfortable IMO.

It all depends on what "you" want to ride. I am a bike guy. I've been riding bikes for close to 35 years. My son started on a bike, but after a number of years, switched to a quad. All of his friends ride quads, and he is more comfortable on a quad. I'm more comfortable on a bike, so to each his own.
If all of your friends are on bikes, yes you may prefer a bike. Have you tried to ride one of your friends bikes. There are differences in the riding styles. Before you sell and buy something else, try out one of your friends bikes.
The decision comes down to want "you " want. Unfortunately this is a decision you need to make as to what you think is best for you.

you cant kick out the back end on a bike like you can on a quad. cant do donuts. you gotta also worry about washing out on a bike too. ive always ridden quads so in my opinion i think there more fun to ride. it mostly depends on what sort of riding you like to do and where you ride at. cant go on every trail with a quad, but you also cant make it through mud and water on a bike like you can on a quad.
