Default 07 Grizzly 450 Diff Lock

I was out playing in the mud on Sunday and got stuck. The Grizzly wasn't buried so I locked the diff. The engine started running rough and sounded like it was running out of gas. I switched the diff lock off and the engine ran smooth again. This happened 3 different times. I left the diff lock off and the machine ran great. Any ideas?

My Kodiak will sputter if the diff lock is engaged while moving too fast. Also when the speed limiter kicks in it seems like the engine is running bad. It could be something to do with the rev limiter.

As Traildad suggested, it sounds like the rev limiter to me as well.

The diff lock itself has no effect on the engine unless perhaps you were in super thick mud and were lugging the engine down. But that's not what your description sounds like.

There is a rev limiter override on the bars to allow maximum power with the diff. lock engaged. If you were holding this down and it still was doing it, or just does it at any throttle setting as soon as the diff. lock is engaged, then I would suggest you look for a rev limiter malfunction.
