Default Duro Power Grip vs Maxxis Big Horns

I am looking at these and notice that they look a lot alike in the tread pattern but the Duros are a good bit cheaper. Can anyone compare these for me? Ive heard a lot of good stuff about the big horns but not the duros yet. I will mostly be trail riding and even some road riding with (when wife is with me) so I dont want anything that will wear out too quick but I dont want a really rough offroad tire either. Thanks for the help.

I've got Gbc Dirt Tamers (same tread as Duro) on the wife's Rancher and they great for general trail riding. Our trails are alot of rock and coal slag, no punctures yet. Stock tires got popped on the first ride. I also have the Bighorns on my BF650i and there is no discernable difference in the either ride or wear. The Bighorns are radial tires ,thats why they cost more, and the Duro/Gbc is bias ply.

So save some cash and go with either GBC Dirt Tamers or the Duro's.

I just ordered a set of the Duro Power Grips. I got 'em for $280 shipped. The Bighorns would have cost almost $400. And by the way, the Duros ARE radial tires. I'll post a review once I get some miles on 'em.

my buddy's rhino has about 1400 miles on a set of big horns and they are about 3/4 wore out. They have a lot of hard top riding on them too.

I got the Duros on my Quad. They look nasty. Better than the Bighorns in my opinion. The lugs are about an inch deep, which should yield huge traction gains in slick conditions. I only got to do a 5-minute ride down a dirt road so far but the handling improvement over the stockers is very evident. I had a little too much air in them (around 6.5 psi) which made them float a little under hard acceleration. I'm gonna bring 'em down to 4.5psi and go for a ride after work tomorrow. I'll let you guys know how they are after that.

Well, I finally got some miles on the Duros. On hard pack and loose dirt they hook up very well, but also allow controlled sliding. They handle and ride a lot better than the stockers. They give a much sportier ride as well. They are awesome in the mud as long as you keep the wheel speed up to clean them out. They give great traction on rocky terrain as well. I don't think that they are excellent in any one area, but they do everything really well. Definitely a great all-around tire. Also I noticed zero power loss on my Eiger despite the extra weight (still lighter than the Bighorn).

The Duros are doing great. I have been very happy with them and I think they're great all-around tires. These things really shine in rocky terrain. They just grab and pull.
