I have a sportsman 500 and was wondering whats the difference in the 500 and a 500 H.O

Is their a lot of work involved in converting a 500 into a 500 H.O?

 

cam is diff and the carb is bigger

 

Scrambler cam and carb was added in 2001. its a 5hp increase that you only feel in the mid to high rpm range.

I heard the clutch was different but won't know until someone runs the part numbers. People were making their own H.O.s with Scrambler parts before Polaris made H.O.s. I heard it was clutch, cam, carb. The airbox is different too.

 

i heard the Ho was a little faster then standard as well. just buy a bigger one if you want more power.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

 

The H.O. has 15-20% more power. Almost as much as a 600. I really felt the difference in mine. I'm not sure what the difference in top speed is, but the older 500 didn't launch like the H.O. does.
