Honda Rancher 4X2
#1
My first posting....I have never owned any type of ATV. I am an avid bow hunter that has gotten side tracked with a house full of young kids in previous years. Now they are growing up some and I would like to enjoy some time with them outdoors on a safe ATV. I have a great place to ride behind my house and of course hunting at various locations.
I need some help from experienced riders that have done the same. I dont know much about the industry (ATV's) and the comparable models. I wanted opinions on what range a good deal is on a 2007 4X2 Rancher and a 2008 4X2 Rancher??
Do you all think this is a wise choice for me? for a first purchase.
I have an opportunity to buy a Eigor 4X4 ( susuki ) at a good price since the contact I know gets employee pricing but I just have heard so many good things about Ranchers. I have gotten some prices on a 2008 Rancher but just want to make sure I am getting the best deal I can.
What do you guys think? Thanks for the help in advance.

Ranchers Rock, especially since they were re-designed in 07 with a 420cc EFI engine. In my opinion you can't beat the Rancher compared to similar priced ATVs (most with have 300cc and carbarated).
I think its only draw back is it has the lowest ground clearnace at 6.5 inches but I have not had a problem. I took my hunting last year and we had to cross a huge mud hole, no problems in 2 WD but like the security of the 4x4 (especially when alone).
07s and 08s are the same machine only 07s are offering $500 bonus bucks on last year models.
Good luck.

Look at the Honda Website. They don't take any Bonus Bucks off their pricing nor are taxes figured in. Dealers are different of course but I paid pretty much what was shown off the site. I've read about other people getting better deals from some larger (volume dealers) but mine didn't play any games with set up fees, processing fees or over charge for title or ORV stickers.

I agree. I bought an 08 but only because the 2x4 did not come in yellow in 07. I paid 4133 plus tax for mine and it is the ES model. My dad just bought an 07 4x4 non ES (your welcome reconranger ) and he paid 4733 for his. Southern honda is definately the best pricing anywhere that I have seen. Found one place that is about 50 miles north of southern that was like 100 bucks cheaper but they have little to no stock and a horrible service department. Certainly look at the 07 and save the money unless there is some reason why you need the 08. I love mine and I would buy another one tomorrow if i needed one. You will definately be pleased. If you have any questions...feel free to ask me.

Thanks boys! All good advice and making me feel better.
I found a repo dealer this morning through a church buddy that has a Suzuki Eigor automatic for much cheaper than I have seen anywhere. This seems to be a great shot to get a great deal. Seems he repo's from residential folks but also from dealerships so I may be able to get a brand new repo with zero hours and still in plastic wrap.
Anybody have any advice on the Eigor. I know NOTHING about the Suzuki's. I have just about decided to pull the trigger on the Honda Rancher but if the price is right should I consider the Eigor???
Thanks all!

I have just got a 06 rancher 400AT and I love it, My father in law has just got a Suzuki king quad 700 and although he likes it he kind of wishes he would of stuck with Honda, Before I got my Honda I looked at a Suzuki king quad 450, but after looking over it it just did not seem to have the build quality that Honda have, I was also put off when I was told that Suzuki engines derive from there motor bikes and that they can not take the abuse of a purpose built Honda atv engine, so this kind of put me off getting a Suzuki, personally I would rather pay a little more and stick with Honda, I use mine for Hunting here in England and it suits my every need, but this is just my opinion.
Good luck in making a choice

I'd consider the Eiger or any other quad if the deal was really sweet. Hit the board and internet to see what other people say about the Eiger
I really got lucky, I didn't research Quads as much as I should have before buying but I also wanted a dealer close by. Polaris pissed me off (and they were too expensive). It just so happend the nearest Dealer of any make was Honda.
Next closest was Artic Cat but since they have Kawaski engines why not get a Kawaski ?
