Swamp lights Vs GBC Gators
#1
I'm haveing a very hard time decideing on which tire i'm looking at purchaseing. No matter what im buying 26's. If anyone can help me out on which tire i should select it would help me out alot. I heard the gators all a good all around mud tire, But suck in the water and sand. And i heard the swamplights are awsome pretty much anywhere you go. If you know anything tht would help me out that would be great thanks

Gators are not bad in water and not as bad as Swamp Lites in soft sand. Swamp Lites will bury you deep in a matter of seconds if you get those tires spinning in the mud. The Swamp Lites also tend to cake up more than the Gators. I'd say the only advantage the swamp lite has over the Gators is ride smoothness.

There are lots of better tires too. Why limit your choices to those two?
I like my stock 26" radial tires. I use all the money I save by not replacing them to buy gas so I can ride more. My friend used his mud tires once in the last couple of years. He keeps them in his trailer in case he ever finds mud too deep for stock tires. He's still looking.

i have 29.5 swamplites and have had none of the problems stated above! they are avery good tire at a really good price! Terrain that used to give me trouble in 4x4 w/ stock tires arent even an issue in 2x4 w. the swamplites. Im not saying the the gators aren't a good tire just saying that the swamplites are a good choice for any kind of riding!!

im assuming from your handle that you have your swamplites on an ArticCat? What size were the stock tires? did you have any clearance issues with the 29s on the fenders? Do you feel like you lean more around turns because you are so high?

I also got the 1.5" wheel spacers so no there was no clearence issue.. The stock tires were 25" The machine feels very solid on turns and side hills. I have a 2" lift ,but I think you can fit up to 30" tires w/o a lift..

Wasn't a guess just something that i read on this forum!!!!</end quote></div>
I was just kidding. Don't take it personally, I'm just in a weird mood from being awake too many days in a row. I guess you could have lowered yours 1/2" instead of using a 2" lift.
