It is finally time for tires on the 99 500. I am fairly decided on the 589's. Does anyone have a better reccomendation or a good source for the tires? By the way, I like riding in the mud but the cat does a lot of other things that are more civilized around the house so something like vampires are out of the question. Thanks for any input, keep up the great posts!

I have the 589s on my 2000 500auto. I like them, however I have not had another mud tire on my 500 to compare them to.And I am not a hard core mudder,so I am not the expert. The 589s seem to help the turning effort and they clean out well in the mud.
When I got the 589s I also got a extra set of wheels. I put the old 489s on for rock climbing and hard packed riding.
What size of 589s are you looking at?

Are the 589s not good for riding on hard pack trails or gravel? I was looking in to getting them in a 26-27" tire. Whate size did you get? Did you get same width for front and back?

Well I was decided on a set of 27" 589s till a freind talked me into the more agressive Bi/Tri-Claw series. Then I found a KILLER deal on my Tri-Claws all around so Thats what I got. If it would not have been for that deal I would own 27" titians. DO I regret my buy?? NO, but if I don't think I would have regretted the 589s either.

I've talked around 5 ppl into getting 589s for there ATVs and EVERYONE OF THEM was more than happy with the tires. I totally recomend them and plan on owning a set for all around riding.

The only tire that I MIGHT get over the 589s is the new Dirt Devil XT's, but only cause they are CHEAP AS HELL. Other than that, I'll own 589s one day.

Boner, thanks for the info., as well as "gspman" and "winston". Where is the best deal on the Titans now? And what size would you run. I intend on ordering the lift from highlifter, mostly to keep from hitting the tops of the fenders when riding hard. The Bi/Tri claws seem awesome. I think they look good and perform well too. just a little more than I need. I want them for mudding, but I don't need them for pulling firewood across the yard, or pulling my aerator. Tell me some more about these dirt devil things, I like low budget stuff.

If you don't have anything close try Rocky Mountain ATV They seem to be the lowest price for just about anything. www.rockymountainatv.com . I know when I have bought tires in the past they were the cheapest I could find them.

Sorry I forgot about the size. I just stayed with the stock size of 25". I got the 589s and wheels through my local AC dealer as cheap as any place I found.
The 589s would be ok and good for all around riding. I just prefer the 489s for rocky areas.Just do not want to rip off/damage the large lugs on the 589s.Also on very hard trails the 489s just have more rubber touching /or contact with the ground. This has just been my experience.

I bought mine from Majic Racing, the advertise in Dirt wheels I think, cheaper than Rocky Mountain. I like them so far, much better than the 489's. I went with 27X11X12 on the front and rear, I don't think I would get the 11" fronts again, the next size narrower would be better. I put them on ITP wheels and have no clearance problems, except for hard riding in big bumps while cornering the fronts will hit the fenders. They are an excellent choice for a all around tire. My 27x12x12(blown up to a TRUE 28x12) Claws( mounted on ITP silver steel wheels) never rubbed my fenders till I put the spacers on. But with no spacers the rubbed my Ox-lite boot guards and my shocks when turning VERY hard.

I recomend you check to see if they are rubbing the shocks also.

BTW: Got any pics?
