I think PS4 was originally made for the Predator. I read somewhere else that it's 0W-50 and Polaris quit making the 0W-40 altogether. I think PS4 is for all 4-strokes now.

If it's not the right SERVICE GRADE, don't use it no matter WEIGHT it is. Your owner's manual should say what grade to use.

We are phasing out 0-40 for PS4SS,Yes PS4 was for the Predator! 0-50 for Hawkeye and Phoenix! It sounds confusing, and yes it is! Hope to have STANDARDIZED oil for all vehicles someday!

i think you could use either the 0-40 or the new 2-50w the ps4. just make sure its the same fully syn. oil and i think it would be fine. imo.

Lots of people use 0w-40 Mobile1 without a problem. Polaris uses low weight oil like 0w-40 and 2w-50 to get oil to the cam quickly on cold starts.

With most of your oil in a seperate tank, I think the light oil is a good idea. If all the oil was sitting right there in the crankcase maybe it would be okay to use a heavier weight. A lot of people act like ATVs and cars are built the same way, and whatever they get away with in their cars will also work in an ATV.
