Sounds to me as though the chain is loose. It shouldn't come off if it has the proper tension on it. The chain needs some slack in it but it shouldn't move more than an inch if you lift up on it between the two sprockets.

Hey... My kids GIO 50cc did exactly the same hting... It's an easy fix if your handy at all with a lathe or know someone that is...
Replace your swingarm bushings... If they were like ours, they are rubber and hammer out in the first little bit of use.
I used some UMW Poly stock, 1 1/2" round and milled it down to fit into the swingarm... SOLID....
Now, that thing doesn;t move... I filled it full of grease, as well... MAde a huge improvement and will outlast the stock ones by probably 50 to 1...
Now I am replacing all of the steering bushings as well... Everything gets tighter and more solid the more I work on it. Yes they are lacking, but with a small omount of experimentation, they can be made to perform....
I can send you some pics if you'd like...
But that was our fix for the chain coming off....
Thanks...
Rob.

That is a problem with the quads like you are talking about. They seem to have to much side play if they land wrong or take a side ways hit. You could also try to gusset the swing arm to prevent any side movement as well. There is one person on here that is a true believer of a spring loaded chain tentioner as well. I run the 520 chain on my viper and I believe that is one of the reasons that I don't have a problem. Most mini's run a 428 chain and it will get thrown easier.

My wife's Vbike developed the same problem after a few hours of use. Took the swing arm apart and the rubber was shot. I looked at my sons Hanma R9 and found that they actually used a roller bearing for the swing arm. I contacted Tim at Vbike and he sent me another set of swing arm bushings. If these do not work I have a friend that will make me some solid bushings out of hard plastic or brass. I already tried to match the OD and ID with existing bearings but did not have much luck. Looks to me like the bushings were probably installed wrong. Not suppose to hammer on the inner sleeve when installing!
